Judges of The Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards 2014 announced last week that Ryan is a finalist in the Young Entrepreneur of the Year category. The decision followed an intensive six hour analysis of entries, he was told.
One of only three business professionals to be shortlisted for this highly contested accolade, Ryan must now wait until October 30th to discover if he has won the prestigious award. The winner will be revealed as part of a glittering awards ceremony that will be held that evening at The Queens Hotel in Leeds.
Ryan’s submission detailed how, in 2011, he founded Fraser Projects – a specialist interior fit out and building refurbishment business – during the heart of the economic downturn and in one of the recession’s hardest-hit sectors – construction. Fast forward to the present day and the multi-disciplined company now employs 10 full time staff with 18 subcontractor partners, and is on target to achieve turnover of £1.5m by the end of the year.
Ryan explains: “Three years ago I identified a way to do things differently in our industry and with hard work and determination, the vision I had for Fraser Projects is now starting to come to fruition.”
“For this to be recognised on such a prestigious scale is fantastic news, and a testament to our whole team. There are some very impressive names on the Excellence Awards’ shortlist so already we are incredibly proud of this achievement. Now we wait with baited breath to find out who will pick up the ‘gong’ on the night.”
When asked why he believes he was shortlisted in such a competitive category, Ryan added: “I hope it is my approach to quality, training, client relationship management, and health and safety, which made my entry stand out to the judges. I am also not averse to taking carefully considered risks.”
“So, whilst other entrants may have developed ground-breaking technologies or spearheaded new markets, I believe our success in a struggling sector, during difficult economic times, demonstrates innovation in the truest sense.”
