The family-run Sicilian business – Veeno Wine Company – has invested in the 50sqm unit on Duncan Street. And now, a 15-strong team from Leeds-based interior fit out specialist Fraser Projects is tackling the three week refurbishment contract, ahead of the opening night on Friday 25th July.
With vast experience in the retail and leisure sectors, Fraser Projects is providing a turn-key solution including electrical services, plastering, flooring, decorating, installation of a bar, mezzanine and kitchen area, plus the supply of bespoke furniture.
Once complete, the café will serve a range of family-produced wines, plus Italian aperitifs, beers, non-alcoholic refreshments and luxury hot drinks. Customers will also be able to enjoy a selection of antipasti, paninis and focaccias, with ingredients carefully sourced from premium quality Italian suppliers.
Set to generate a minimum of eight jobs from the outset, Veeno will be a small, relaxing and intimate bar with a difference, hopes joint founder Nino Caruso. He explains: “We have done our research and believe we’ve found a fantastic opportunity to bring an authentic Italian leisure experience to the people of Leeds. Open throughout the day and into the evening, we will offer a range of high quality food and drink that will satisfy the taste buds of even the finest connoisseurs. And because we are responsible for the production of our own wines – from grape to glass – we have an abundance of knowledge for those who want to learn more.
Having successfully set up an Italian wine café in Manchester last November, this second project in Leeds is part of Veeno’s ongoing expansion plan.
Nino continues: “By hand-selecting the produce we serve in our wine cafés, we can ‘transport’ our customers to Italy and give them a real feel for the food and drink we enjoy back home. This business model has proven popular so far, and we plan to continue the adventure in other UK cities moving forward.
“We look forward to Fraser Projects being a part of that journey too. Before the fit out commenced, we were keen to work with a local design specialist who could deliver a snag-free job. We therefore met with quite a few firms from the region. However Fraser Projects’ managing director Ryan Fraser best embraced our concept and is now bringing Veeno’s vision for Leeds to life.”
Veeno will open its doors for the first time at 6pm, Friday 25th July, when Nino and the team will welcome visitors to enjoy a tasting evening. Guests can pre-register for free entry by emailing email@example.com or visiting www.theveenocompany.com. Entry on the night will be £3..
